About the Blowfish!!!
Welcome to the home of the greatest Youth Group on the planet... THE BET SHIRA BLOWFISH For those who have never heard of us let me tell you more... The Bet Shira Blowfish located in Beautiful Pinecrest (AKA Miami), Florida are based out of Bet Shira Congregation. Bet Shira, a Conservative Temple has aporoximately 500 families and has been in the South Dade community for over 25 years. The Bet Shira Youth Department is a dynamic program consisting of three separate age groups. These groups meet regularly throughout the school year. Our programming is varied and includes Social programs (such as Limo Hunts, Wacky Olympics, and Movie Nights), Social Action / Community Service programs (such as Hospital Visits, Car Washes, and Selling Bracelets for Tikkun Olam). We also attend educational programs, religious services, conventions, dances, and other programs with youth from the Southeast Region of United Synagogue. The Bet Shira Youth Department is comprised of: USY, this is for high school students in grades 9-12. USY is generally run by the members of an elected board. The board plans, schedules, and executes these events. The youth staff (advisors) for USY act as a guide and supervise the activities. USY usually meets on Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00PM. Kadima, this is for youth in grades 6-8. Kadima events are pre-planned by a Kadima Board who works in conjunction with our youth staff. Kadima meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30PM. We sell dinner and provide a warm atmosphere between the end of Religious School and the start of our program. Yachad, Bet Shira's youngest youth group consists of youth grades 3-5. Yachad typically holds events twice each month. All Yachad events are planned and executed by the Staff of our Youth Department.
